Cool Gifts for Yourself or Loved Ones
Kagawa has many good shopping opportunities, especially for vintage and traditional items. Shops like Overs, Torao Factory, and Off Home offer incredibly inexpensive kimonos and accessories. For example, in January 2025, Overs had kimonos and haori for just 600¥ each and obi-age for 350¥. Off Home carried vintage obijime starting at 400¥, along with beautiful vintage bento boxes, tea sets and lacquerware. Torao Factory had gorgeous obis for only 830¥ each!
If you're looking for local artisan goods, Marugame is famous for its Uchiwa fans and Takamatsu is renowned for lacquerware. Did you know over 90% of all gloves made in Japan come from Kagawa? For unique, locally made gifts and souvenirs, Kitahama Blue Stories is a great stop and just a short walk from Takamatsu Station.
