Where to Eat
Explore the rich culinary traditions of Kagawa, from its famous udon noodles to its incredible wagyu. In addition to udon, this prefecture is known for its fresh seafood, including fish which is caught daily from the Seto Inland Sea. But if you want something extra special, you should try meats from the Sanuki region, east of Takamatsu. Make sure to try olive chicken, olive pork or a truly exceptional experience: olive wagyu. Considered in America to be one of the rarest types of wagyu, olive wagyu is not that hard to find in Kagawa, and though expensive, will be far cheaper than eating any wagyu in the US. What makes olive meats special is the incredible flavor, which comes from feeding animals the by-products of olive-oil production (such as dried, pressed olive leaves).
Yuzu is a popular citrus in the area and is often incorporated into dishes, sauces and pastries/baked goods. It's not easy to find in the US, so Kagawa is a great place to enjoy it to your heart's content!
